Wraith Wizard Ascendant
They call him the Wraith Wizard. He wishes he knew what that meant.
Tyson Hale, a loner from a post-apocalyptic Earth, winds up transported from the Wasteland into a fantasy land of dragons, demons, and quarreling gods. Before he can even get his bearings, he’s being heralded as the chosen one, handed a sword and armor, and pushed into an adventure to save a land he doesn’t even know the name of.
The good news? Even with a war raging between dragon people and demons straight out of myth, this place isn’t half as bad as the Wasteland.
The bad news? It doesn’t stay that way for long. When a ten-foot-tall dragon-man claiming to be the true Wraith Wizard marks him for death, Tyson has to get creative. Good thing there’s a pre-apocalypse neural implant in his head rapidly powering him up to god-like levels… though she sure seems to know a lot more about this place than she should.
The first book in the Wraith Wizard series, Wraith Wizard Ascendant is a humorous isekai fantasy story full of wild combat, cozy slice-of-life moments, ancient mysteries, madcap hilarity, interpersonal camaraderie and strife, and over-the-top depictions of brutal violence straight out of a mature-rated video game.
There is a robust but easy-to-follow game-like LitRPG system with experience points, leveling up, attribute points, and skill and spell points. Weapons and armor offer stat increases, and the occasional unique weapon or armor set may confer game-changing bonuses—if only Tyson can find them. Or steal them.
But it’s not just attribute points, skills, and spells that get tracked from book-to-book. Tyson winds up forming a party straight out of a classic video game, joining a pirate crew aboard a magical ship and befriending larger-than-life characters, including the neural implant in his brain. He forms bonds, featuring a friendship system reminiscent of golden-age Bioware, Obsidian, or Persona games where bonds literally level up as the series progresses.
Wraith Wizard Ascendant is influenced by video games such as Dragon Age, Ogre Battle, Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, Mass Effect, Pillars of Eternity, Shadowrun, Final Fantasy, and so many more. It is very much a love letter to classic RPGs, full of action, intrigue, interesting characters, complex but easy to understand worldbuilding, ancient artifacts, old grudges, and compelling villains.
So find out what happens when a jaded Wasteland survivor winds up in a land of gods and monsters. Tyson doesn’t start off overpowered, but he’s getting there.
About the Series: Experience an isekai with a unique twist, when a Wasteland survivor winds up in a fantasy world. Featuring an easy-to-follow LitRPG progression system that grows more complex as the series unfolds, Tyson winds up growing in power and adding new skills, spells, and weapons to his arsenal, taking him from a competent survivalist to someone capable of going toe-to-toe with god-like beings. And he doesn’t go it alone—the people around him grow alongside him, aiding him in battle. The book features rich worldbuilding that includes more than ten thousand years of thought put into its history, political intrigue that extends far beyond the continent’s borders, complex characters who grow and change as the story progresses, and plenty of battles and adventure in a world on the brink.
